Don’t be fooled. Following the biblical Jesus involves much more than lip service. It requires total submission and devoted discipleship. As the Master said, “ . . . None of you can be My disciple who does not give up all his own possessions” (Luke 14:33).
The Lord also explained, “ . . . If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it” (Matthew 16:24, 25).
WE’RE HERE TO HELP
Before they “come to their senses” (2 Timothy 2:26) and receive the biblical Jesus (John 1:12), many people are confused about their eternal destiny. Does heaven await you? Or weeping and gnashing of teeth? In a world of false gods and manmade religions, the truth about Jesus Christ can elude you. Global Christian Outreach can help.
YOUR NEW LIFE AHEAD
Jesus said you must be born again to enter the kingdom of heaven (John 3:3–8). Rebirth requires that you put off your old life and receive a new one through Christ, (2 Corinthians 5:17: Galatians 6:15).
To be sure, after your born-again experience you’ll face various challenges. Jesus guaranteed that. “In the world you have tribulation,” he assured us, “but take courage; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Some trials will be easy, others seemingly insurmountable. But Christians are blessed when we endure them (James 1:2–4).
HOW TO RECEIVE CHRIST
Salvation is straightforward. Secret handshakes, clandestine ceremonies and cloak-and-dagger initiations have no part in the gospel of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1–4). You need not be worthy to enter God’s kingdom. Quite the opposite. “ . . . When we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly” (Romans 5:6, italics added).
So, when ready to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior, address God in prayer:
1. Tell him you turn away from your sins (Acts 2:38; 3:19).
2. Believe in Jesus from your heart (Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9), and confess him as Lord (Romans 10:10).
3. Call upon God to save you from death and hell and to grant you the gift of eternal life through Christ (Romans 10:13; John 5:40).
4. Receive Christ and the life only he can give (John 1:12). It’s a gift, not the result of your works (Romans 5:15–21; 11:6; Titus 3:5).
No one earns a gift. And nobody earns God’s grace (Romans 11:6; Ephesians 2:5, 8, 9). After receiving Christ, he will declare you righteous because of your faith, not your works (Romans 5:1), and no condemnation from God will ever await you (Romans 8:1).
